A robot vacuum-mop that leaves its mops at the dock before it vacuums rugs
It is the most hands-off option in our floors list. Once rooms are mapped it runs on a schedule while you are out, and before it vacuums a rug it leaves its mop pads at the dock so the rug stays dry. The dock empties the dustbin, washes the mops in hot water, dries them with warm air and refills the robot's water.
It still depends on you. Cords, socks and toys need picking up before a run, and the maker does not claim it avoids pet waste. You fill the dock's clean-water tank and empty the dirty-water tank, and the manual asks you to clean the brushes and filter every two weeks. The manual also says not to use it on high-pile carpet.

Setup
Place the dock on a hard, flat floor with clearance, connect the robot to the app on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and let it map the home. Edit the map if it sees through glass doors, and set no-go zones around cords, pet bowls and tasselled rugs.
Safety notes

- Use only tap water and the maker's cleaning solution in the tanks; no disinfectant (maker's manual).
Without buying anything
A two-minute daily sweep of the kitchen and entry, plus entry mats and a shoes-off spot, reduces how often a full clean is needed.
